The dutar is a traditional two-stringed lute with a fretted neck and a deep round back found in Central Asia. Its name comes from the Persian word for "two strings". Dutar was common musical instrument played by the Uyghurs of Western China, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Turkmen, and Afghan people. In the instrument's 15th century beginnings in the hands of shepherds, its strings were made from gut. With the coming of the Silk Road, the strings were made from twisted silk. Modern instruments also have silk or nylon strings. This antique dutar dates back to the early 20th century and is decorated with silver ornaments. The handle has several Carnelian stones set on silver bezels and is further adorned with a tassle with glass beads. The dutar is in overall good condtion and does not have any cracks or dents. The strings are made of nylon and may have been replaced as the strings often break when the dutar is played. The dutar measures 56 inches from top to bottom and the base measures 9 ½” wide x 8” deep.

The Rubab or Rebab also known as the "Kabuli Rebab” is a stringed musical instrument from Afghanistan. The Rebab is mainly used by Afghan, Pashtun, Kashmiri and Kurdish musicians. The Rebab is a short-necked instrument and the body is carved out of a single piece of hollowed wood with a membrane stretched over the opening. Combinations of gut (or nylon) and metal strings pass over a bridge which rests on a stretched membrane. This antique Rebab dates back to the early 20th century and is decorated with silver ornaments which covers the sides and rear of the instrument. The front of the handle is decorated with mother of pearl inlay and the sides of the handle have two oval shaped Carnelian stones set on silver bezels. This Rebab has been used for many years by Afghan musicians and is in overall good condition and does not have any defects. One side of the Rebab appears to have been repaired at some point and therefore shows a small bump on the surface as shown in the pictures. Three of the strings are made of nylon and the rest of the strings are metal wire. The Rebab measures 34” inches from top to bottom and the base measures 9” wide x 9” deep.

The Jew's harp ( jaw harp or mouth harp) is thought to be one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. It is also sometimes called a Jew's trump or juice harp, among other names, and has no particular connection with Judaism. The Jew’s harp is a small instrument, which is held between the teeth or lips, and plucked with the fingers. The Jew's harp can produce only one tone, the quality of which may be varied by modifying the shape of the mouth and moving the tongue back and forth to produce different tones. This is an older harp and the tongue of the harp is made of metal, which has some rust on it. The round back which supports the tongue is made of brass and the harp measures 4 ¾” long x 1 ½” wide. This antique violin type musical instrument features a hollow gourd base with two wire strings attached to it similar to a modern violin. This instrument was in our collection of antiques, which we purchased over 20 years ago from Pakistan. After doing extensive research we were unable to find out about the exact origins of this instrument or how it was played but looking at its violin like shape and strings we believe it originates from western China & was played with a bow similar to a violin. A bow is not available for this instrument. The musical instrument has a wooden neck with strings, which have tension adjusters. The oval shaped base is made of hollow gourd with decorative metal ornaments and glass cabochons attached to it. The instrument is in overall good condition and does not have any cracks or dents. The strings are made of metal wire and the neck is made of wood with a metal cap at the end, which is decorated with red & blue glass cabochons. The instrument measures 31 inches from the top of the neck to the base and the gourd base measures 17” wide x 4” deep.

This antique violin type musical instrument features a hollow gourd base with two wire strings attached to it similar to a modern violin. This instrument was in our collection of antiques, which we purchased over 20 years ago from Pakistan. After doing extensive research we were unable to find out about the exact origins of this instrument or how it was played but looking at its violin like shape and strings we believe it originates from western China. This instrument was played using a bow and the bow is also available as shown in the picture. The musical instrument has a wooden neck with strings, which have tension adjusters. The heart shaped base is made of hollow gourd with decorative metal ornaments and glass cabochons attached to it. The instrument is in overall good condition and does not have any cracks or dents. The strings are made of metal wire and the neck is made of wood with a metal cap at the end, which is decorated with red & blue glass cabochons. The instrument measures 27 ½” inches from the top of the neck to the base and the gourd base measures 7 ½” wide x 4” deep.
